TACT Announces New Acquisitions
Trusted Assessing and Care Training TACT has taken ownership of Living Made Easy and AskSARA from Shaw Trust, securing the long-term future of these well-known online information and advice services.
Living Made Easy has a long history of providing independent information about equipment, technology and solutions that can help people manage everyday activities and live more independently.
AskSARA complements this by providing an accessible self-assessment tool. Users can answer questions about everyday activities and challenges and receive practical, OT-authored advice about potential solutions that they can explore with family members, carers or professionals.
Under TACT's ownership, both services will continue to provide free, impartial and clinically informed information and advice, with no commercial influence over the recommendations provided.
An exciting opportunity for the future.
TACT is a UK-wide Occupational Therapy practice and an established provider of accredited training, qualifications, consultancy and assessment services in independent living, Trusted Assessment and home adaptations.
Our clinical expertise and strong relationships across occupational therapy, health and social care, housing and the independent living equipment sector mean we are well placed to maintain the quality of these services while developing them further.
Our plans include:
- continuing to update and expand information about equipment, technology and solutions for independent living
- further developing AskSARA as an accessible self-assessment resource
- reintroducing ProAssist as a comprehensive resource for professional assessors and prescribers
- strengthening links between self-assessment, independent information and professional Trusted Assessment
- working with OTs, health and social care professionals, housing providers, suppliers and other sector partners to ensure information remains accurate, relevant and evidence-informed
“We are delighted to be taking forward Living Made Easy and AskSARA and to be entrusted with their future,” said Clare Barber, Founder and Occupational Therapist at TACT. “These are important resources that help people make informed choices about equipment, technology and adaptations that can make everyday life easier and support independence.
“Our priority is to maintain the qualities that have made these services so valued: impartiality, independence, accessibility and clinically informed information and advice.
“We see this transfer as an opportunity not simply to preserve these nationally recognised services, but to build on their strengths and develop them to meet the changing needs of people seeking information, advice and support to live independently.”
Working together
We believe the transfer creates exciting opportunities to connect the information and advice available through Living Made Easy and AskSARA with the wider work TACT does with Occupational Therapists, Trusted Assessors, local authorities, NHS and social care services, housing providers, charities and equipment suppliers.
